Sharavathi River Valley

Really Lovely...! Gorgeous..!! Awesome..!!!
This place is situated in Uttara Kannada District.Newly constructed Gerusoppa dam/ Hydro Electri Project has created a unique reservoir in gerusoppa valley. The breath taking view of the valley can be had from atop  observation tower constructed by Forest dept, about 10 kms from Gerusoppa towards Jogfalls. Nearby there are few seasonal water falls like Gowri shanakara Falls, Gerusoppa Falls which you can see only monsoon seasons( July to November).
Sadly both gourishankara Falls and Gerusoppa Falls are unreachable, The gerusoppa falls can only be enjoyed from view point and not possible to reach nearby.If you want to view the full view of Gouri shankara  and Gerusoppa Falls you have to spend few hours usually these falls region cover with fogs.So when you plan to visit  Sharavati River Valley put some extra hours.Small Small Milky way’s welcomes you on the way when you travel to this place .(See the Images sections to enjoy the milky ways)

Attiveri Birds Sanctuary

The Attiveri Reservoir was created due to the construction of a dam across the Tayawwanahalla in the village of Attiveri. Ever since then the reservoir has attracted a wide variety of aviators especially of the aquatic kind.

The sanctuary is located in the region of Uttara Karnataka about 15 km from Mundgod in the Kalghatgi taluk of UttaraKannaa district.Since there was an increase in number of birds, the Attiveri Bird Sanctuary was created in the year 1994 and is now spread across an area of 22.3 sq km. Of these, the reservoir encompasses an area of 1.01 sq.km and the rest of the area is made up forest cover comprising of different dry deciduous trees. Farmlands situated around the reservoir too have a rich diversity of insects and this is very important as they are the main source of feed for water birds.The sanctuary has seen and continuous to see close to 79 species of birds from 22 countries arrive every year.

The Attiveri Bird Sanctuary is home to several species of birds including the likes of the Indian Cormorant, Grey Francolin, Green Bee-eater, Little Cormorant, Darter, Great Egret, Intermediate Egret, Little Egret, Indian Pond Heron, Black-headed Ibis, Eurasian Spoonbill and others collect here from June to October. Other birds in the sanctuary include Brown Shrike, Bay-backed Shrike, Southern Grey Shrike, Barn Swallow, Rose-ringed Parakeet and many others.The agricultural fields surrounding the sanctuary attract a variety of aquatic creatures.

With luck, you can also spot several wild animals like Jackal, Wild Boar, Indian Porcupine, Indian Pangolin, Small Indian Civet, Common Palm Civet, Grey Mongoose, Jungle Cat, Black-naped Hare and others within the vicinity of the sanctuary.


Enjoy the time of your lives with several of your feathered friends at close contact. There are private rest rooms available near the Attiveri Bird Sanctuary that you can avail depending upon your budget. Trekking enthusiasts can trek through the sanctuary with the presence of numerous tracks. You can also visit places nearby including cities like Hubli.


Best time to visit the Attiveri/Athiveri Birds sanctuary is between November and March.

Bachanaki Dam / Baachanaki  is situated in Uttara Kannada District. It is about 9 KMs from Mundgod on the Mundgod - hubli road is the Bachankidam, a tourist resort. The dam which is built across the Bachanaki river, a tributary of the Kali is adorned with ever green hilly surroundings. There is a proposal to raise park on the site on the other side of the dam. It is the good picnic spot.

Devarhole

Devarahole

Devarhole/Devarahole is part of the Shalmala river which originates near Sirsi. Devarhole is about 12 kms from Sirsi. The spot is amidst lush green forests of Sahyadri and there are carvings of lingas, Durga, Vishnu, Anjaneya and other deities along the banks of the river. Thousands of pilgrims and devotees visit Devarhole on the occasion of Shivaratri. Some of them are said to belong to the period of Swadi kings who ruled the region during the 16th and 17th century AD

Go in Sirsi-Yellapur Road (SH-93) up-to 'Kadave cross bus stop' (5 kms from Sirsi). Then take left deviation. Again you will find 2 roads, one which moves towards Kadave & other moves towards 'Devadakere'. Go in 'Devadakere' road (right deviation) up-to Bommanahalli bus stop. Then take left deviation go to 'Devadakere bus stop' (10 kms from Sirsi). Then you will find one mud road which moves towards 'Devarahole'. Go in that mud road up-to 2kms you will get 'Devarahole'.

Shirley Falls

Shirley

Shirley (Shirale/ Shirle) water falls is one of the beautiful waterfalls in Uttara Kannada district, which situated in Yellapur taluk. This place is nearly 13kms from Yellapur town. This falls comes in Arabhile Ghat. Here you can see the water falls from 100 feet height (approximately). Due to the lack of publicity this beautiful falls is still unknown to lot of people.This place is very good for trekking.

From Yellapur town go in Yellapur- Ankola National highway (N.H-63), approximately 18kms you will get Shirley cross on left side of road. While coming from Ankola side after Idagundi village you will get Shirle cross. (4kms from Idagundi). Shirley is a very small village which has got nearly 10 houses.

From that cross you have to go 2.5kms in forest (mud-road) downwards. It is better to go by walk only. 4 wheelers are not going in this road. 2 wheeler is also difficult in this mud-road. After 2.5kms you will get one areca-nut plantation. From that areca-nut plant you have to walk downwards, after some distance you will get Shirley falls.
